Dealers increase selling space to accommodate an expanding category The interest in container gardening - which can encompass planting live goods in everything from ceramic pots to antique watering cans - has caused home centers to dedicate increased garden department selling space to products relating to container gardening and to widen price-point ranges to offer a selection that meets the needs of every level of container gardener. The interest also has been driving the development of new products that meet the unique planting needs of this kind of gardening. “The popularity of container gardening really reflects trends toward outdoor living,” said Bruce Butterfield, the research director of the National Gardening Association (NGA). Butterfield added, however, that while container gardening may seem to be on the rise, a survey conducted by NGA reveals that the number of consumers that participate in container gardening has remained steady over the last five years at 11 million U.S. households. The amount each household spends on container gardening has risen sharply, though. Retail sales of products related to container gardening — the containers, potting soil and plant food — rose to $783 million in 1998 from $441 million in 1993. The average amount spent per household on container gardens was $79 last year, vs. $44 in 1993.
Container Moodysson has made two great films–Together and Lilya 4-ever. This, though, is hardly a film. Its more an audio novel, a monologue about gender, religion and death. The arbitrary visuals in flickering, grainy monochrome show decaying food and buildings and two people, mostly in foetal postures. Its a draining, inert experience, an immersion in depression that offers no way out.
WHILE PLACING A LID ONTO A SHARPS CONTAINER FOR DISposal, a housekeeper received a needle-stick injury. He said he had to use extra force to push the lid down because the container was overfilled. Another housekeepers finger was stuck when she removed a filled sharps container from a wall bracket. The needle was protruding from the front wall of the container, which was filled beyond the recommended fill line. The container held several 60-cc syringes, as well as plastic bags and disposable gloves.

The water was strewn with delicate petals of fragrant frangipani, and soft music played as I lay dreaming in my perfumed bath under a tropical, moonlit sky. I stepped out, draped provocatively in a tiny towel, and walked into the honeymoon suite, the great bed piled high with soft white cushions, the white sheets turned down invitingly, and looked around to find. no one. I was on honeymoon alone. Again. Honeymoons are my thing. I love them. Putting myself in the place of thousands of couples planning their dream honeymoon is a serious business and I take it seriously. But its not always that simple. Honeymooning alone is an art, which is not come by without practise - and there can be many a pitfall on the romantic trail. From the beginning, when I first started out as travel editor, later editor, of Brides, I thought it best to make my position clear. I didnt after all want people to think I was a woman on the prowl. So arriving in Mahe in the Seychelles I announced myself clearly as the lady from Brides. Odd looks followed until I discovered there had been a misunderstanding and they thought I was the lady from Bribes. Heaven knows what kind of story I could have got following that line, but the marriage sector called.
Seychelles? St Lucia? The Serengeti? These might be the aspirational honeymoon destinations for John Terry et al. But for anyone planning to marry and start a family, and therefore with half an eye on the welfare and future of the planet, the solution for a sophisticated and sensitive honeymoon is simple: Sandwich. Where Sandwich really scores for romantic travellers, though, is a shop at 28 King Street: the premises of Arthur Lock, the eminence grise of tandemry. He dispenses bicycles made for two to couples who are made for each other. A transport of delightfully light footprint need not cost the earth: Mr Lock (01304 617161) will sell you an upmarket Raleigh tandem for an on-the-bikepath price of only [pound]550.

Amistar Sells Unit To SMS: Amistar Corp., a San Marcos-based public company traded on Nasdaq as AMTA, sold its contract manufacturing division to SMS Technologies, a San Diego-based firm thats in the same business, for an undisclosed price. Amistar President Stuart Baker said the company decided to get out of the contract manufacturing business and to develop its distributed delivery networks business that services the retail pharmacy industry. SMS and Amistar plan to make presentations to Amistars six largest customers in hopes of retaining them at SMS Sorrento Mesa plant. Privately held SMS has some 25 regular, large-volume customers, and many smaller customers that use the plant to produce new products.
Under new disciplinary procedures proposed for government schools in New South Wales, verbal abuse through SMS and email could become grounds for student suspension. The new 40-page policy document, Procedures for the suspension and expulsion of school students, was drafted in consultation with principals, parents groups and the teachers union, and is to be submitted for ministerial approval. Since the guidelines were last revised (in 1998), two new criteria have been added. One is concerned with the illegal use, supply or sale of restricted drugs such as prescription medicines. The other includes e-bullying in a list of offences that tan lead in suspension of an offending student for up to four days (Sydney Morning Herald, 3/4/04, p. 1).
SHORT messaging services is still a major hit among mobile phone users. Celcos are no longer in doubt on the growth potential of SMS. Even third party vendors are now resorting to using various SMS-based transactions and even SMS-based contests, though still controversial.

In the past, unauthorized entry was the biggest threat to building security. As the tragic events of and following Sept. 11, 2001, have made all too clear, threats to security have become more varied and sophisticated. In developing a security program today, facility executives must also consider the threats of bombs and biological and chemical weapons. The results of this assessment will allow facility executives to design and implement security measures in concentric zones, from the interior of the building outward to the public domain.
SECURITY: Hossein Eslambolchi, ATTs CTO and president of ATT Research Labs, is a big believer in packet networks, but warns that network security these days is so pitiful that a hacker today could bring down the entire Internet with 100 lines of code. Its almost impossible to scale by putting all the security at the end of the network. It just doesnt work, Eslambolchi said at last months Interop conference in Las Vegas, according to Light Reading. We need to go somewhere in between. an intelligent network with smart devices.
Businesses continue to place a high priority on protecting their infrastructures from cyber-attack, according to analyst group Canalys, with the latest spending patterns showing corporate security budgets up by a third in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Spending on security in EMEA during the second quarter of 2004 totalled [pounds sterling]273.7 million - an increase of almost [pounds sterling]70 million over the same period a year ago. The report states that spending on enterprise security hardware devices in EMEA rose 53% year-on-year, while software sales grew 17% over the same period.

THERE are plans to introduce rubber footpaths Dublin to stop people claiming compo from cracked pavements as a result of uprooting trees. The engineers should contact the Dublin football team for a bit of advice. And I can think of plenty of fans who feel theyre entitled to a bit of compo after being forced to watch them.
The planning process is fast becoming a vital part of an architectural firms services to its clients. When it comes to commercial development, the blueprint for success in the new millennium involves far more than innovative design concepts or buildings with the snazziest glass brick entryways, imported Mexican tile restrooms or Pueblo Deco ceiling fixtures. These days, planning becomes part of just about every project we do on some scale, says Dale Dekker of Dekker/Perich/Sabatini, an Albuquerque architecture firm whose principals have been in the business since the late 1950s.

Homeowners looking to refurbish their houses but unwilling to use expensive credit cards to finance it will soon be served by a new, locally based loan company specializing in home improvement loans. American First Mortgage Source Inc. will open Feb. 1 at 504 W. Mission Ave., in Escondido. Jess Chinchillas, founder of the company, recently returned to the county after serving as vice president for The Money Store, a Sacramento-based home lender. The home improvement loan is secured by a lien on the subject property, he added. Since the average home improvement loan is smaller than other kinds of home equity loans, but has just as much paperwork, the points charged are usually proportionally higher, he added.
MORE homes are set for a facelift as part of regeneration plans. Gateshead Council has submitted an application for planning permission to carry out major works to homes in Watt Street, Telford Street, Hedley Street, Stephenson Street, Saltwell Road and Whitehall Road, in Bensham. Coun David Napier, right, cabinet spokesman for housing, says: This is a huge programme which will benefit thousands of local residents.

Forget the toys and computer games - children would rather have new clothes and money for Christmas. Children as young as eight said they preferred clothes.
Childrens ClothingIn the United States, a wide range of social changes impacted childrens clothes. The sewing machine (both home and factory varieties) eased the burden of sewing clothes for the family, and, by the Civil War, paper patterns were readily available for childrens clothes. The Civil War itself changed childrens garments because standard sizes of uniforms were made for soldiers. Soon, all clothing was sized, and styles for children began to differ because of size ranges. Transportation methods diversified and necessitated new clothing styles. Sports clothes were developed with train travel in mind, and tailored suits for girls and box coats for boys were made specifically for travel. The bicycle and the baby carriage were both popular by mid-century, and clothes for children to wear while riding were created. Dolls and paper dolls became popular toys, and, as the shape of the baby doll changed from a diminutive grown-up to a more baby-like shape, costumes for both real babies and their toy counterparts were modified to suit babys needs. Bonnets as absolutes for American girls also dropped out of fashion when the Civil War eliminated cotton production.By the 1870s, styles had again become very restrictive. Young girls wore laced and boned corsets to shape their waists from an early age even though doctors had become aware of the damage caused to growing bones, circulation, and breathing. Children also wore mourning clothes complete with veils. Girls being sent to boarding school had all the accoutrements of their mothers including fans, stockings, pantaloons, bustles, and feathered hats. Starched clothing appeared neater and cleaner, so shirts and dresses were stiff to the point of discomfort. Changes were beginning to occur rapidly in clothing manufacture, however, as the long centuries of handmade clothes gave way to factory-made garments. Those factory-made garments were also available to any-one with a mail-order catalog.

Exercise and Cancers: Research Opportunities for Health-Related Fitness ScientistsRepresentatives from the American Cancer Society (ACS), the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) will challenge AAHPERD members to contribute to cancer prevention and control, describing the most promising research opportunities and resources to support investigation of the relationships between cancers and exercise. The presentation will be based on a synoptic article being developed by the ACS and the Office for Health Promotion of Northern Illinois University. Ruth Corcoran of ACS will describe a proposed collaborative research agenda, suggesting that two sets of consensually developed guidelines are needed to promote such research: one set to facilitate dissemination of what experts already know to the public and providers (including exercise specialists); and a second set to facilitate further collaborative research. Speakers from CDC and NCI will outline what is known about these topics, and how exercise scientists can contribute to further development (see accompanying abstracts). Presenters will recommend a process to develop research priorities, involving cancer experts, public health scientists, and relevant interest groups in AAHPERD. Members will be asked to contribute ideas for a research agenda. The Cancer-Exercise Agenda: Opportunities in Applications Research

C ONTAINMENT If I was the author in 1947 of a doctrine of containment, it was a doctrine that lost much of its rationale with the death of Stalin and with the development of the Soviet-Chinese conflict. I emphatically deny the paternity of any efforts to invoke that doctrine today in situations to which it has, and can have, no proper relevance. While agreeing on the desirability of resisting communist expansion, Kennan and others disagreed on whether the doctrine remained relevant, and how and where to implement it. Their disputes have often rested on fundamental differences about the capacity of American power, about the extent of American interests beyond western Europe, and especially about the nature of the communist threat. The last issue has raised many questions. Was the threat subversion, revolution, military aggression, economic encirclement, or some combination? With the exception of Yugoslavia, was world communism controlled by Joseph Stalin even after the successful Chinese revolution in 1949? After the death of Joseph Stalin in 1953 and after the obvious Sino-Soviet split in the early 1960s, did the nature of the communist threat sometimes change, even well before the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989#x2013;1991? At times from the early 1960s, according to the proponents of containment, was the threat primarily China and wars of national liberation in the Third World, and not the Soviet Union mostly in the developed world? Was American policy in the 1990s and continuing into the twenty-first century in dealing with Cuba, North Korea, and the Peoples Republic of China often the policy of containment?Beyond these important issues, scholars, as well as politicians and policymakers, have raised other questions: whether the doctrine in 1947 was new or necessary, whether it was ultimately self-defeating, whether it was active or passive, and whether it did or should have endured as American policy into the late 1980s and early 1990s and perhaps later. Many of the questions about containment, if it is interpreted as the general course of American foreign policy, become the basic questions about that policy itself, from Harry S. Trumans administration to the first years of President George H. W. Bushs and possibly beyond.

Poor diet Nutrients are required for hair to grow properly. These include protein, glucose, vitamins and iron, sodium and sulphur. Insufficient iron is a common cause of hair loss. Antibiotics, when taken over a long period, have been shown to cause hair loss, as have some thyroid medications and anti-coagulants. Too much vitamin A or vitamin E can cause hair to fall out.
Its a problem most often associated with men, but hair loss affects
30 million American women. In fact, one in four women will experience
hair loss by age 40–60 % by menopause. And until now there havent
been many options to treat hair loss for women. There are many causes of hair loss including heredity and illness and
as men and women age our bodies produce more DHT. Commonly know as
the bad testosterone, DHT in effect clogs our hair follicles causing
our hair to thin or fall out as we get older. Another cause of
thinning female hair: using harsh treatments such as tight braids,
bleaching and permanents. The effects of hair loss can be emotionally
devastating for some women, but there are ways to prevent hair loss
before it becomes a problem.

    - Dont Over style– Use blow dryer, straightening iron sparingly
    - Watch stress levels: Get enough sleep and exercise
    - Change diet– Make sure to eat a diet rich in fruits and
      vegetables.
    - Try an Herbal Supplement— Recent Clinical trials shows that
natural supplement can prevent and improve hair loss.

Female pattern hair loss can occur in women as early as age 20 and it affects all races and ethnicities. This type of hair loss usually comes from a genetic predisposition inherited from either side of the family tree. By age 40, visible symptoms of female pattern hair loss are present in 40% of women. Determining female pattern hair loss. A receding hair line or balding spot usually characterizes hair loss in men, but female pattern hair loss rarely displays either of these symptoms. Women instead see an overall thinning of their hair. They may notice their center part gradually getting wider, a decrease in ponytail diameter or more hair than usual in the shower drain, on the pillow, or in a hairbrush. Identifying the cause of hair loss is the key to determining the best treatment. To diagnose hair loss, dermatologists will perform a thorough history, physical exam, laboratory evaluation, and in some cases, a scalp biopsy. This relatively simple procedure usually takes place in the office under local anesthesia and involves removing a small piece of scalp for microscopic examination, which can be extremely helpful in diagnosing the type of hair loss. Treatment options. Often a dermatologists first step is to use topical minoxidil, which is available without a prescription, to treat female pattern hair loss. It is applied to the scalp twice a day and must be used for at least 4 months before the patient will see results. Minoxidil actually works to help reverse the shrinking process seen in these hair follicles and stimulates new hair growth. It has been proven to regrow hair in approximately 60% of women with female pattern hair loss, and is the only hair regrowth treatment approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use by women.

The arcane workings of the peer review system were the subject of the First International Congress on Peer Review in Biomedical Publication, sponsored by the American Medical Association, and held May 10-12 in Chicago. Nearly 300 biomedical and scientific editors, reviewers, researchers, clinicians, and journalists from twenty-one countries attended, including the chief editors of the worlds leading general biomedical journals, the British Medical journal, The Journal of the Americann Medical Association The Lancet, The New England Journal of Medicine, and Science. Several presentations illustrated that there are no uniform standards by which reviewers review papers and by which editors rely on reviewers to select papers for publication. For example, two reports presented conflicting evidence on whether re-review of manuscripts would alter the decisions made by editors to publish or not to publish specific papers. Another study indicated that neither authors nor academic institutions follow any set of uniform standards for manuscript preparation, submission, and publication. As a result, actions considered taboo by most editors, such as duplicate submission (submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal) and duplicate publication (salami slicing, or multiple publications reporting various aspects of the same clinical trial) may occur. Bias in peer review received much attention. While no one denied its existence and effects, debate centered on whether bias was inappropriate in all circumstances and how to minimize the biases that do cause problems. For instance, a reviewer with an obvious conflict of interest may provide the most useful review, while a reviewer free of conflict of interest may not be critical enough of a dubious manuscript. Much discussion also arose over whether double-blind review (blinding both the reviewers to the authors and institutions, and the authors to the reviewers) can reduce bias, can be equally assured for all papers and authors, or has any effect on the final decision to publish a paper. Whether peer review is designed to catch inconsistency, error, or fraud, and whose responsibility it is to regulate and correct such work fueled considerable debate among the representative gatekeepers of the leading biomedical journals, academic institutions, and government agencies. Discussants generally agreed that the purpose of peer review is not to catch fraud but to help improve those papers that are publishable (that is, with a thorough statistical review) and to weed out those papers considered not publishable. However, many attendees agreed that most papers are eventually published somewhere. The final presentation posed two of the most intriguing questions concerning peer review: How many published papers actually achieve the goal of changing the behavior of those who read them? And what happens to that rare, innovative paper that might meet this idealistic goal but is denied publication again and again because editors and reviewers fail to recognize its potential importance? In this light, is the peer review system a giant sieve with gaping holes? And are readers, those who have no interaction whatsoever with peer review, the ones who are really blinded to the process?

We expect heightened activity in the importation of money for capital projects in 2006. Here in Anchorage, funds will be raised ($100 million) for the new Anchorage Convention Center. Additionally, we expect to see additional funds raised for utility development. Alaska Housing Finance Corp. can be expected to continue issuing bonds for ongoing housing and the Alaska Railroad is progressing toward raising funds for rail and economic associated projects. Federally appropriated transportation funds, coupled with large state surpluses of oil revenue, will result in increased state budgets for both operations and infrastructure development. Anchorage will spend federal port appropriations on its major port expansion. As discussions related to the gas pipeline construction continue, it is anticipated that interest of financial giants will be stimulated and result in an increased visitation and interest in Alaska gas line and offshoot industrial projects along the pipeline and its spurs.
There are three tiers of investment banks operating in Arkansas. The firms that do business on a nationwide basis have a strong presence in the larger cities and towns in the state. Names such as Merrill Lynch, Smith Barney, Prudential Securities, Dean Witter and Paine Webber should be familiar to most readers. Due to their size–with thousands of brokers across the country–and their financial clout, these firms stand out in the following areas: broad product line, research on national companies, broker training, and the ability to raise large amounts of capital. If you prefer to do business with companies that are headquartered a little closer to Arkansas, you still have plenty of choices. The multi-state or regional operators have captured a significant share of the Arkansas investment market. This category is represented by names such as Morgan Keegan, A.G. Edwards, Stephens and Edward D. Jones. Being close to home affords these companies the following advantages: strong research and market making for the securities of local and regional companies, and the ability and desire to raise capital for local corporations and governments. The local operators comprise the remaining tier of investment banks. This tier is split into two groups–divisions of commercial banks and independent companies. Many of the commercial banks offer investment services as a part of their trust operations. The larger banks in the state, such as First Commercial, Worthen, Twin City, Arvest and Simmons have separate investment departments that market to institutional and individual customers. A primary benefit of working with these companies is one-stop shopping or convenience.

A sweet flying delta wing Theres something eye-catching about a “delta-wing” type of aircraft. The mystique of an airplane with no fuselage or empennage piques our curiosity and challenges our instincts concerning aerodynamics. The Laser Models Laser Arrow delta wing is one in a new line of models distributed by Great Planes, and I quickly accepted the offer to review it. The kit consists of several sheets of laser-cut balsa and light plywood. To minimize damage, the wood sheets are secured to the bottom of the box with cardboard tabs. The hardware package is complete and includes pinned hinges, screws, devises, control horns, a fuel tank and other assorted parts. There is also a Nyrod (for throttle) and threaded-wire pushrods. The Laser-Lock building technique is very interesting; no plan is provided, nor is one needed. Instead, the building process relies on accurately laser-cut parts and interlocking tab-and-slot construction to ensure proper alignment.

In Ask the Experts [October 2007, page 108], there was a question about essential oils and hair loss. Valerie Cooksley, director of the Institute of Integrated Aromatherapy in Houston, suggested a scalp treatment that combines different essential otis. Should this mixture remain on overnight? Could you also recommend some shampoos to go along with the essential otis?

The incentive measures are to develop activities in support of the European Employment Strategy adopted at the Lisbon European Council. Funding will be given to projects that will contribute to the development of a coordinated strategy for employment through analyses, monitoring of labour market policies and support actions carried out by the participating countries. Among the goals set out for the programme are identification of best practices and promotion of exchanges and transfers of information and experience, including ways of cooperating with the social partners and relevant local and regional authorities. The programme is also to contribute to the follow-up and evaluation of the European Employment Strategy. The EEA EFTA States also participate in the European Employment Service (EURES) (see the section below on Community services and systems).

FINANCEDividend policy is the decision regarding funds to be distributed or returned to the equity investors. This can be done with common stock dividends, preferred stock dividends, or stock repurchase by the business of its own stock. The aim of this decision is to retain the resources in the business that are required to run the business or make additional investments in the business, as long as the returns earned exceed the required return. In theory, management should return or distribute all resources that cannot be invested in the business at levels in excess of the required return. In practice, however, dividends are often maintained at or changed to certain levels in order to convey the proper signals to the investors and the financial markets. For example, dividends can be maintained at moderate levels to demonstrate stability, maintained at or reduced to low levels to demonstrate the growth opportunities for the business, or increased to higher levels to demonstrate the restoration of a strong financial (capital) structure (debt and equity capital) for the business.Capital is the total of financial resources invested in the business. In terms of the sources, there are two types of capital: interest-bearing debt funds, such as loans, bonds, short-term notes, and interest-bearing payables to trade suppliers; and equity, such as common and preferred stock and the earnings retained in the business that add to stockholders share of the entities. In terms of uses, there are also two types of capital: net working capital, such as operating cash, inventory, and receivables, less interest-free payables to trade suppliers; and fixed capital, such as property, plant, and equipment. Capital is managed to maximize wealth by maximizing the rates of return on investments of capital and thus maximizing the total net present value of the business. This can be done by minimizing the amount of capital used for given business investments with given business returns.Weighted average cost of capital is the weighted average of the returns on investment or future dividends for the stockholders and interest rates on debt for the creditors. This average return should be used as the required return for investments, as mentioned earlier, because it represents the weighted average of the required returns of all the different debt creditors and equity investors. It also represents the weighted average of the costs that can be saved by the business if the resources or financial funds are returned to the creditors and investors instead of being used for investments within the business.

Health is a measure of quality of life that is difficult to define and measure. In the 1940s, the World Health Organization (WHO) defined health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. At the first International Conference on Health Promotion in Ottawa, Canada (1986), the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion built on the WHOs concept and further defined health as a resource for everyday life. a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capabilities. Good health enables one to function independently within a changing environment.

Total Employment Rate An important aspect of economic performance is how the resources are utilised, human capital being societys main resource. Consequently, the employment rate and its development are crucial both for economic growth and social cohesion. The Lisbon European Council stated that more and better jobs should be created and the overall target was to increase the employment rate to 70% by 2010. An intermediate goal for the employment rate was to reach 67% by January 2005. In addition, the re-launching of the Lisbon Strategy by the European Council in 2005, following the mid-term review of the Strategy, has put even more importance and focus on growth and employment.

For the third straight quarter in 2003, Arkansas remained second of seven regional states in real personal income growth, outpaced only by Mississippi. The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis published the third quarter numbers in the April issue of The Regional Economist banking magazine, which is published quarterly. Arkansas showed significant growth in the third quarter, climbing from 1.9 percent in 2002 to 2.7 percent personal income growth in 2003.
Fast Growth = Personal Debt?: Speaking of women in business, the National Federation for Women Business Owners — not to be confused with the National Association of Women Business Owners — released a new survey that showed many female entrepreneurs rely on personal debt to finance their growth. But the fast-growth women entrepreneurs are more likely than their male counterparts to depend on their business earnings and personal debt for business financing. Men are more likely to have a business or commercial bank loan. The survey shows women owners of fast-growing businesses — defined as firms that achieved revenue or employee growth of 30 percent or more over the past three years — equaled men in their drive to obtain capital.
Chicago Fed Letter Recent payment innovations at the point of sale and for bill payments are showing significant increases in consumer adoption. The National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) reports that the use of automated clearing house (ACH) services for direct payments increased by almost 20% in 2001. Meanwhile, a recent Federal Reserve study found that use of electronic payments, such as debit cards and credit cards, is growing significantly.1 Yet, many electronic payment innovations have failed to gain adoption for consumer-to-consumer (C2C) payments. In addition, according to a recent Federal Reserve study, C2C check payments account for 11% of overall check volume and 22% of consumer check volume.2 Cash transactions remain one of the most frequently used form of payment, and money transfer systems continue to grow. Tower Group estimates that nearly 33 billion C2C payments occurred in the U.S. during 2000, the vast majority of which were paper-based payments. The recent emergence of what is commonly referred to as online person-to-person (P2P) payments represents a potential vehicle through which paper-based C2C payments can be reduced. This article reviews the emergence of online P2P payments, their structure, business models, and factors contributing to their success. Here, I use “C2C transactions” to refer to all payments that occur between two consumers. I use “online P2P transactions” to describe transactions involving the use of e-mail to make payments over the Internet. As figure 1 illustrates, many online P2P transactions are actually consumer-to-business payments.

Q. How important have drug chains become to the success of your camera business? BRIDDON: Chain drug stores remain a very important channel for both onetime-use and reloadable traditional film-based cameras. Moderately priced models that can be merchandised in a self-service manner are the primary volume producers. Chain drug stores have effectively managed the category to optimize both sales and margins. In general, they have reacted positively to the types of consumer offers and display options that we have presented. I. INTRODUCTION This study empirically examines person-to-person transactions within the Internet market known as eBay. In this virtual market of unseen participants and products, buyers and sellers face the risks of repudiation, as the counter party may deny the agreement after the fact. Buyers assume risks associated with lack of seller integrity and asymmetric information about the particular product, as the buyer is typically required to send payment before the seller ships the product. In addition, for many eBay transactions, the cost of enforcing a contract is high relative to the transactions value, resulting in a practical absence of legal enforcement. (2) By providing a history of trade execution information, eBay benefits market participants by reducing information asymmetries while achieving substantial transaction cost economies. Market participants relate personal experiences, which eBay uses to calculate a numerical reputation measure for each user. Market participants, in turn, can use this reputation measure to assess counter party risk and adjust bidding behavior accordingly.

E-commerce today is enjoying the fastest growth rate of any business sector because, among other things, it is fast, convenient and cost-effective! Consider just a couple of examples I heard a consultant from Arthur D. Little present recently on CNBC: 1) A typical banking transaction, which costs one dollar, will only cost one cent when conducted over the Internet! 2) A typical brokers transaction, which costs $150, will only cost $6 when conducted over the Internet!
Many of the old rules and limitations no longer apply to this new form of marketing, which seeks to talk with, rather than at, the reader. At last count, the Internet links some 46,318 computer networks at sites in 91 countries worldwide. More than half (27,614) the networks are in the United States; not surprisingly, some 20% of these are in California. According to the Internet Domain Survey, conducted in January 1995 by Net Wizards, some 4,852,000 host computers were linked to the Internet. The greatest percentage of these computers were being used in business (27%) and education (23%). The Internet Society estimates an average of 10 users per host. Total users on the net are approaching 50 million, with another million or so getting connected monthly.
A review of the marketing literature in both the traditional (offline) and new era (online) environments was undertaken to compare and contrast marketings role in both types of organisation. Insights derived from this review formed the basis for a series of in-depth interviews with leading marketing professionals in Ireland. The paper draws conclusions regarding the overall effect of the Internet on marketing. In particular it notes that, while marketing has evolved into an all-encompassing role in the organisation, the marketer remains the focal actor. The paper looks to a future with two distinct kinds of marketer and highlights the importance of retaining the traditional commitments of marketing practice. The Internet is a significant global medium for communications, content and commerce. It is a powerful tool for building relationships with all of a companys communication targets. It is cheap, immediate and repeatable. With appropriate technology it can be personalised and is measurable. Building one-to-one relationships with customers online provides marketers with the ability to cut through the clutter that is characteristic of traditional marketing activities such as TV/radio and newspaper advertising, PR and outdoor, ambient media.

You may pay only a fraction (as low as 10%) of what the property is worth when you buy it. Real estate has utility. At ten to five the sun rose. Me and the boy were seated in our directors chairs on the beach, mourning the embers of our dying fire. We were about midway along a five-mile curve of shingle, about 30 yards from the sea. There wasnt a puff of wind; the cigarettes-worth of smoke from our fire went more or less straight up. The waves collapsing on the shore were piddly. In spite of their lack of vigour, however, every other one washed up hundreds of tiny silver fishes that died in shining rows on the wet shingle. After the sun had cleared the hill by about half an inch (about quarter past) a figure appeared beside the shore to our right. He was casting his rod into the sea, catching a fish immediately, tossing it back, and moving along again. He was coming towards us. As he got nearer, we could see that apart from a satchel he was nude.
BeachesAlthough most beaches are composed of quartz sand, the fragments may be as large as boulders, or composed of some other material such as carbonate skeletal or shell fragments. Sources of beach material include sediment carried by rivers or eroded from cliffs or the seafloor, or biological material such as coral.A beach is comprised of two major parts: the foreshore and the backshore. The foreshore, also called the beach face, is the intertidal seaward portion. The backshore, or berm, is above the high tideline and is covered by water only during storms or unusually high spring tides. The foreshores slope is steeper, whereas the backshore is nearly flat.

JobJob is the name of a book in the Hebrew Bible and the name of the books main character. Many scholars consider the Book of Job to be one of the finest works of literature ever written. It focuses on the question of why the innocent suffer.Yahweh inflicts a number of terrible misfortunes on Job. He kills Jobs children and causes him to lose all his wealth, but Jobs belief in the goodness of Yahweh remains unshaken. This show of faith does not convince Satan, however, who says that physical pain and suffering would cause Job to abandon his belief. So Yahweh causes Job to be afflicted with painful boils all over his body, and still his faith remains firm.

Jobs faith is tested by both Yahweh (God) and Satan. This stained glass window shows Satan torturing job.
